Maggie

This sweet, sleepy little tune tells the story of a party, from shopping for a dress, to arriving in “a carriage made of diamonds and gold,” to asking a shy, curly-haired boy to dance. When the party’s all over and the guests are gone, the tired-but-happy give a big yawn and a “goodnight” to mom. Kids playfully work on rhyme, rhythm, and vocabulary.

Lyrics:
Maggie Maggie wakes up early, going shopping with her mother, Gonna buy some shoes, gonna dance tonight. She got invited to a party, gonna dress like a princess. She’s going with her friends. It’ll be so nice. They’ll arrive in a carriage made of diamonds and gold. A bouquet of roses in her arms she’ll hold. And when they walk in, everybody will cheer. Everybody’s happy that Maggie is here. Maggie walks up to Sam Says, “You look real nice. Your hair is curly. Would you like to dance?” Sam starts to blush. He says “Hello Maggie. I’ve never tried before, But I’ll give it a chance.” So out on the floor, they laugh and twirl. Sam says to Maggie, “You’re my favorite girl.” And when they’re done, people start to cheer. Everybody’s happy that Maggie is here. Around about 10, Maggie starts to yawn. It’s been a great party, but it’s time to go. Maggie has another cookie and rounds up her friends And they say “good night” to everyone they know. Well, the carriage pulls up and they jump right in. It was the best party that there’s ever been. Maggie goes to sleep with her mother near, And she says to her mother, “I’m glad you’re here.” And she says to her mother, “I’m glad you’re here.” And she says to her mother, “I’m glad you’re here.” Music By: David John Performed By: David John, Steve Boynton
