Music My Own Way

This super silly song takes a delightfully “made-up” approach to music that will get kids laughing and thinking. “I invented an instrument that I like to play. It doesn’t look like anything that you’ve ever seen. I call it my elliptical saxamophene.” Imagination soars, as kids entertain possibilities and also work on rhyme, rhythm, and vocabulary.

Lyrics:
Music My Own Way When I was in school, I was asked to join the band. I told them “Well, that’s cool. But you’ll have to understand. I have to make music in my own way. I invented an instrument that I like to play. It doesn’t look like anything that you’ve ever seen. I call it my elliptical saxamophene. I can make it sound like thunder, Or make it whistle like the wind. My friends love to watch me practice. They can’t wait till I begin To play the kind of music that I love to play. On my saxamophene, I can play all day. I like to make it up as I go along. On my saxamophene, I can play any song. I can play some rock and roll. I can even play some rap. My saxamophene is gonna put me on the map. And I will ask everyone to come play along, To play their own instrument, and bring their own song. It’ll be the coolest thing that you’ve ever seen. I’ll be playing my elliptical saxamophene.” Music By: David John Performed By: David John
