The Thing I Like to Do

Packed with super silly imagery and very real possibilities, this song celebrates putting pen to paper and creating something marvelous! “I’ll imagine that I’m biking with an overzealous Viking, or we’re sailing on a sea of marmalade, until we jam our rudder in a jar of peanut butter. We’ll make sandwiches until our ship is saved.” Imagination leaps!

Lyrics:
The Thing I Like to Do I think I’ll write a story of a land of hope and glory Where elephants fly and fish walk down the street. And I’ll write about a nation in my imagination With tropic trees and grass that’s always pink. I’ll imagine that I’m biking with an overzealous Viking, Or we’re sailing on a sea of marmalade, Until we jam our rudder in a jar of peanut butter; We’ll make sandwiches until our ship is saved. Oh, writing is the thing I like to do when I am happy or I am blue. It’s the thing I always do, do, do, do. When I am lying in my bed, these stories pop into my head. I grab my pencil, and I write down something new. I imagined I was soaring, over lions who were roaring, And I flew up to a castle in the sky. I rescued a lovely maiden from some giants who were trading Baseball cards with a lobster from Dubai. I wrote about a gorilla, who was drinking sarsaparilla And wearing a giant tutu, all in pink. Well, this may seem very silly, but when you’re writing it seems really, Really real, at least that’s what I think. Oh, writing is the thing I like to do when I am happy or I am blue. It’s the thing I love to do, do, do, do. I see these clouds up in the sky, these stories pop into my eyes. I grab my pencil, and I write down something. Writing is the thing I like to do when I am happy or I am blue. It’s the thing I love to do, do, do, do. I see these clouds up in the sky, these stories pop into my mind. I grab my pencil, and I write down something new. Music By: Glenn Bulthuis Performed By: Glenn Bulthuis
